The Center for Policing Equity (CPE) is a racial justice non-profit that protects, supports, and empowers communities—particularly Black and Brown communities—to redesign their public safety systems. CPE provides leaders with data, stories, and relationships to facilitate change that’s bold, innovative, and lasting. We do science to promote justice.
CPE offers, amplifies, and advocates for solutions that center the expertise, priorities, and safety of Black and Brown communities. We work collaboratively with communities to provide strategic partnerships, products, and services that support their advocacy efforts, reduce harm done to their communities, and empower them to redesign their public safety systems.
Last October (2022), CPE participated in the two-day Elevate Conference. Our Community Engagement Team traveled to St. Louis to participate in the Wake Up For Change Elevate Conference 2022—an event focused on supporting and empowering the St. Louis community. Last year’s focus was ending gun violence and featured speakers, entertainment, a resource expo, and a community outreach event. At the conference, we facilitated pod sessions to update participants about our work in St. Louis, share quantitative data on racial disparities in SLMPD’s policing as outlined in our report, and elevate community sentiment. A link to the presentation can be found here.
Our team was honored to join Marnée Morgan as well as local advocates, activists, and community members all working towards a safer, more equitable St. Louis for all.
Our CE team is looking forward to returning to St. Louis and would love to connect with you! In the meantime, if you are interested in meeting with us virtually, please fill out this form or email us at STLcommunity@policingequity.org.
